Unit 4

 



Hi guys! Do you remind us? It is time to say see you soon to the history, and hello to the new units about economy and population.



INTRODUCTION. 1st session. Friday 19/11

1. Before start this new unit, let's see the mark of the last evaluation and resolve your questions.

2. Now, it's time to start the unit. First of all, we must know what do you know about this new unit: People and population. Go to the FORUM and answer the question that we have suggest for you. Remember, there is not wrong answer!





WHO ARE WE? 2nd Session. Monday 22/11

1. Let's classificate the population of our school: you must pay attention to the table on page 44. In groups, you should take a census of the population of your school. To do this, you should form 6 gropus, on for each class. Before you start, you must do a brainstorm to add two more question to the table. Then you will go around the different classrooms and collect the necessary information.





2. The classroom emigrates to our houses: for next day, you must search in your houses the following concepts:  IMMIGRANT, EMIGRANT, POPULATION DENSITY, ABSOLUTE POPULATION AND NATURAL INCREASE.



HOW DO YOU COUNT MOVING PEOPLE? 3rd Session. Wednesday 24/11

Guys, you have done a good job with this definitions and now I bring you an activity:

1. The natural increase is the difference between the number of _______ and the number of ________.

2. The population density is the average number of ________ who live on each square kilometre of land.

3. An _________ is a person who moves away from an area; an __________ is a person who moves into an area.

4. _________ _________ includes immigrants arriving and emigrants leaving.


POPULATION PYRAMID. 4th Session. Friday 26/11

1. Click on this link to do some activities about Population Pyramid.


2. Now, it is time to make groups! We will need 6 groups: 3 of them are going to create two questions about the graphic assigned to them from page 46 and the remaining 3 groups will create 2 affirmation about the graphics from the same page.

The game starts! Now, each group is going to show to your classmates their questions/affirmations. The question group will throw their questions to the students and they will have to answer them correctly. On the other hand, the group of the affirmations will have to discuss them with their classmates and they will have to guess which graph they correspond to.

POPULATION MAPS. 5th Session. Monday 29/11

Hi guys! I hope you didn't find it difficult to see and analyse the population on a map. I bring you a new challenge: here you have a blank map of Spain and a PDF with the population data by autonomous communities. You have to create your own legend and colour the map accordingly.

1. Which area has the highest population density?

2. Which area has the lowest population density?



Why do people emigrate. 6th Session. Wednesday 1/12

Hi guys! You have learned that like us, people sometimes have to emigrate. But, why? It's depend on the person. For example, we are toys and we come from another planet because on our planet there are no children to play with us. Now, we bring you a new challenge: you must create a list of questions to interview your language assistant.



Why do people emigrate. 7th Session. Wednesday 8/12

*INVESTIGATION POINT*
Hi guys! You know that we are not from this planet and we want to know more about it. So, you have to search and investigate on Internet and books this questions:

1. In your planet, which is the country with the largest population?

2. Which is the country with the smallest population?

3. Why do you think that these are the countries with the largest and the smallest population?

Write it on the FORUM.



Evaluation. 8th Session. Friday 10/12

Good morning and welcome to the evaluation day! For evaluate this unit we are going to play. For this game, we need to create groups of 4 people. Who is going to create the groups? The chance! 



Well, now we can continue. The teacher has a list of questions that you must answer.

If you answer correctly, your team will receive 50 points. If not, the question will be bounced. The next team can answer the question and get 25 points (as a bounce question).

Don't worry if you are unlucky, because at the end of the game, a sheet with a population pyramid and some questions will be handed out to help you to GET A HIGHER SCORE (until 1.5 points).
