UNIT 1




Hello, students! Do you remember me? As I told you in my presentation, I am a passionate of History, I really love it! Now, I will stretch my dock to the maximum to travel to the Birth of Spain.

INTRODUCTION

2nd session. Monday 13/09
1. THE BIRTH OF SPAIN. 

1.    FORUM: What do you think that is happening in the different parts of the picture?

- How did the visigoths arrived to Hispania and why decided to stay?

- What was the capital of Hispania stablished by the visigoths?

- What is the first Visigoth king in Hispania?

- What battle lost Don Rodrigo?

- What happened in the Batalla de Guadalete?

 

3.    Order the following events according to their chronological order. You will need to Look for the information on the Internet an the years when those events happened. Then, you have to upload the activity on the Blog.

- King Suintila reconquered the Iberian Peninsula.

- King Leovigildo died leaving a united Visigoth Kindgom.

- Ling Reccared converted to Catholicism.

- King Leovigildo died.

- King Leovigildo stablished the capital of Hispania in Toledo.

 

4.    Look on the internet some clothes, laws, weapons, religion… influenced in Spain by the visigoths. Please, note it in your notebooks and the we will comment them in class.

3.    Now, according to the information you have found, draw the pyramid and put the following names (Christians, Muladies, Arabians, slaves and Berbers )in the correct line.

5. HOW HAVE THE MOORS INFLUENCED SPAIN? + PREPARATION FOR THE EXCURSION. 

1.    In pairs, make a diagram about how the Moors have influenced Spain (you have to include drawings). You can use the page 11 of the book. Then, present it to the rest of the class.

EXCURSION TO THE MOSQUE OF CÓRDOBA!

Today, we are going to visit the Mosque of Córdoba, and Buzz Lightyear will come with us. He will help us to arrive and travel back in time through the different parts of this monument. 

We wil leave school at half past 9 and you will learn about the history of the Mosque, its parts and you also will observe some historical remains of some contraptions.

I hope you enjoy your excursion and you learn a lot. Please, pay attention to everything because the following day, you will have to write a little essay in the forum of the class.
